10 July 2008 - Glastonbury

An evening walk to Glastonbury Tor.

The approach to the Tor from the town.

This shot shows the extent of the water meadow flooding that has occurred with all the recent rain. Glastonbury town is to the right with Wearyall hill stretching towards Street.

Getting close to the top know.

The last few steps to climb. The top is about 500 feet above sea level.

The view to the west through St Michael’s tower. The tower is all that remains of the 14th Century church.

Just above the west door are two stone carvings. This one shows St Bridget milking a cow.

This carving is supposed to be St. Michael weighing souls.

A rain shower approaching from the west.

A closer look. On the horizon the distinct shape of Hinkley point power station can be seen. On the right is Brent Knoll.

This view was produced using the HDR technique which I have experimenting with. The idea is to increase the dynamic range of the image.
