A brief stop near the White Post Inn on a cycle ride through Rimpton.

This is the first time I have noticed these Millenium stones at the side of the road between the White Post Inn and Rimpton village. They seem to be a sort of sundial if you look at the base you can see a line of light. I would image if the sun was out you would get a nice bright line. There is a scale marked on the base. The base is also engraved with some words saying the new millenium was witnessed here at 8:55 am on 1 January 2000. A bit late for sunrise but the sun would have to climb over the hill. The enhanced photo below shows the words on the upright left hand stone.
