12 July 2009 - Holwell

I have been through the village of Holwell many times but never before visited the village church. The main reason being that it is located at the end of a no through lane and lies about a mile north of the main village. The original medieval village is located at the end of lane running east from the cross roads at Barnes Cross. The old hamlet is known as “The Borough”.

The old village church of St Lawrence. The original church is said to date from Saxon times but the church we see today dates from 1480.
