Saltram House

2 October 2010 - Saltram House near Plymouth

My first visit to this National Trust property.

The southern aspect of the house and the main entrance.

The western end of the house.
The house was the home of the Parker family for nearly three hundred years. The present house is built on the site of an older Tudor property, parts of which still remain. The property was transferred into the care of the National Trust in 1957.

We only had time for a brief wander through the gardens. A reminder that it is now autumn. An acorn the symbol of the National Trust.

In the scullery behind the kitchen were copper sinks.

Magnificent 18th century Chinese silk wallpaper in the Chinese Chippendale bedroom. The scenes depict the curing and packing of tea.
