A visit to Stonehenge to experience the atmosphere of the summer solstice. We arrived at about 9:30pm on the solstice eve.
Arriving at the stones - 9:28 pm
Looking back towards the car park which is about a mile away.
Plenty of people gathering.
People just sat around chatting and taking in the atmosphere.
This chap seemed to have played all night.
Two new age persons playing with their electronic games on their phones!
There was a lot of traffic heading south on the A303.
A wide angle shot in black and white for a change. I think it works well.
Inside the stones. Drums playing and a warm feel to the atmosphere.
There were a wide range of ages present.
9:44 now and the light is dropping as the moon starts to shine.
Approaching 10:00 now and the last light is fading.
21 June - The Summer Solstice
3:30 am now. Not much light. There had been a continual stream of people arriving through the night. It was getting quite crowded but still a very friendly buzz around.
A bit of light starting to show in the sky with the hint of a good sunrise to come!
4:07 with the stones in silhouette against the dawn sky.
4:45 - sunrise 10 minutes away. However the sky has now clouded over!
