1 May 2008 - Ascension day. In front of the abbey, between the grass and the road, there is a large and elegant Victorian memorial. It was erected in 1884 in memory of George Digby Wingfield Digby, the Abbey's greatest 19th century benefactor. At the four corners are bronze statuettes of St Aldhelm, Bishop Roger, Abbot Bradford and Sir Walter Raleigh. A bronze plaque, facing south, presents the profile of Mr Digby.

Armistice day November 2016. This is the Wind-Spiration display outside the Abbey. It is a visual art installation representing a poppy field. The display is by Bob Cruikshanks. The tall green tubes have a counterweight at the bottom which allows the poppies and cornflowers to bob around in the wind.
